Hi, I’m Nate Riordan. I’ve been a bankruptcy attorney for more than 20 years and today I’m going to talk to you about how to figure out whether bankruptcy is the right option for you.

If you’re here and you’re watching this video, chances are it’s something that you seriously need to consider. If you’re staying up at night worrying about your debt payments, having at least a consultation about whether bankruptcy is an option for you is something you should seriously consider.

1. One of the surefire ways to know you that you need to consult with a bankruptcy attorney is if you’re picking up your phone, seeing a bunch of missed calls from folks that you don’t recognize and you suspect that those are creditors calling to collect money, you need to pick up a phone or make an appointment to talk to a bankruptcy attorney.

2. The next way to know whether bankruptcy might be right for you, is if your debt payments are getting in the way of you being able to provide the basic needs for you and your family - things like food, health insurance, rent or mortgage payments. If you’re not able to pay for those things because debt is crowding those out of your monthly budget, this is quite serious, and your really need to talk to somebody about your options right away.

3. Another way to know that it’s time to talk to a bankruptcy attorney and find out whether bankruptcy is right for you is if you are seriously behind or even a little behind on mortgage payments, and there is not in your mind or in your budget an easy way for you to catch up. If you’re risking losing your house, you need to talk to a bankruptcy attorney about what your options might be.

4. The last thing I’m going to talk with you about today with respect to whether you should or should not consider consulting with a bankruptcy attorney about your options, is if you’re having your wages garnished by a creditor you absolutely need to talk to someone about your options.

In 20 years of filing bankruptcy, I have observed the relief that people feel just from having a consultation and understanding their options and understanding what can happen with respect to their debt and what creditors can and cannot do. And I’ve seen the relief that people feel when they file bankruptcy.

Look, if any of these things are happening you have to do yourself a favor, call for a consultation and understand what you can do. You’ve been responsible with your life up to this point, things have not gone the way that you hoped they would go. This is the next responsible step. It’s calling someone and discovering what are the options for you and your family with respect to bankruptcy and your debts.

Give us a call today.
